Amsterdam Music Festival press-release

Amsterdam Music Festival

On the 20th May we were invited to witness the press-release of the first names of Amsterdam Music Festival in Amsterdam. In the smallest bar of Amsterdam called ‘Café Nol’ 4 huge names were announced in a stunning trailer: Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Hardwell and Tiësto. After seeing the trailer we had a chat with Chantal Musquetier, Marketing director of ALDA Events and Allan Hardenberg, Co-Founder of ALDA Events.

Trailer

Chantal confirms that she’s also really impressed by the new Amsterdam Music Festival trailer and explained us how it was created. As you directly notice when watching the trailer storytelling has been used and has been very successfully applied in the trailer. The girl travels to witness Amsterdam Music Festival in Amsterdam. Chantal has had 5,5 years of experience at Disney before starting as the Marketing Director at ALDA in 2013 and according to her that’s where she really learned about storytelling.  In 2013 and 2014 the trailer has been mostly about Amsterdam using the 3 crosses (city-symbol). This year it is about the journey to the capital of Dance music. In fact last year 91 nationalities visited Amsterdam Music Festival! Obviously still the 3 crosses are used in the house-style of the festival. Chantal adds that AMF is really meant for the visitors, they will be offered an amazing experience, they are a part of the story. Actually the track that is used in the trailer was created by an AMF visitor! It’s cool how AMF is interacting with their audience.

Amsterdam Music Festival 2015 16th and 17th October – 2 days!

This year the Festival, which is the traditional closing of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), will be spread out over 2 days. On Friday the number 1 DJ of the DJ MAG Top 100 results will be announced and the highest new entry will play, on Saturday the party will last for 12 hours (6 pm till 6 am). ALDA Events and ID&T have put only weekend-tickets on sale so far which can be bought at www.amsterdammusicfestival.com. If it will not sell out they will sell 1-day tickets.

We asked Allan whether he could predict if the event would already sell out with just weekend-tickets and he responded that you can never be sure. Last year it sold out about 1 month before the event.  He didn’t expect The Flying Dutch to sell out so fast so he recommends that if you want to go, you should buy a ticket as soon as possible!

DJ MAG top 100

A special part of Amsterdam Music Festival is that the crowd has a big influence on the line-up. Starting the 6th of July people will be able to vote again for their top 5 DJ’s worldwide and during the Festival the number one will be announced.

ALDA & ID&T

It can be considered quite special that 2 huge event organizations decided to work together to create Amsterdam Music Festival in 2013. Allan intensively works together with Duncan from ID&T to arrange everything for the Festival. Allan comments to be very pleased with this cooperation: ‘ID&T & ALDA Events are really working together smoothly and we’re really an addition to each other’.

Memorable moments

Chantal says it’s actually really hard to pick the most memorable moment since she started working for ALDA Events, but her highlights would be: AMF 2013 and 2014 & Armin Only. The reason for that is that it is so special to see a huge crowd, amazing show and especially it is very rewarding to see happy people. Offering people such an incredible experience is really cool!

Allan Hardenberg, Co-Founder of ALDA Events in 2007 with David Lewis, has an even tougher time to pick his most memorable moments. He mentions AMF and Armin Only like Chantal does and adds I Am Hardwell. He notes that those shows were so beautiful and that both Armin & Hardwell are such special artists that it was amazing to witness.

Trends

We were curious about the view of Co-Founder Allan about the recent trends in the music industry, the new styles coming up and which artists are still really able to impress him, since he’s been in the business since 2007. Allan mentions that the line-up isn’t fully decided yet and that new upcoming DJ’s might get a spot at Amsterdam Music Festival. As for DJ’s that really impress him, he mentions Martin Garrix because he managed to put out 4 really big tracks during Miami Music Week of which 1 was a collab with Tiësto and 1 was a very suprising collab with Usher called ‘Don’t Look Down’. He further mentions that Hardwell, Armin van Buuren and Showtek never cease to amaze him.

The future of Amsterdam Music Festival

Amsterdam Music Festival is already an incredibly huge Festival but what are ALDA Events’ plans  with it? Chantal commented that the Amsterdam ArenA remains an amazing location. Allan explains that research is being executed to see if a foreign AMF edition is a possible.

We are curious what will happen next year and would like to thank ALDA Events for the invite to the press-release!
