Curbi

Hi Curbi, it’s a pleasure to meet you. We guess this is your first time at ADE right? How would you describe ADE in 3 words?

Nice to meet you too! It’s indeed my first time at ADE. I would use the following 3 words: 1. Madness 2. Inspiration & 3. Motivation!

We can imagine that ADE is indeed very inspiring & can confirm from last year that it’s madness! 2015 has been really amazing for you for sure, but what’s your biggest highlight so far?

Playing at Pacha Ibiza alongside my personal hero Martin Solveig for sure! That was insane & something I’ll never forget. Martin inspired me from the very beginning.

That must have been very cool! Also a highlight of course is your signing at Spinnin’Records. Your first track Discharge was picked up by loads of big DJ’s quickly. Were you spotted by Spinnin’ or did you send them the track as a demo?

I actually send Discharge as a demo to Oliver Heldens, obviously one of my big examples. Oliver liked it so much he forwarded my track to Spinnin’Records. I’m of course incredibly grateful for that.

How cool is that! You’re only 16 now, turning 17 this month, when did you start producing music & why?

When I was seven years old I started playing drums. I loved listening to music and felt like listening wasn’t enough. At age 14 I started producing music which is back in 2013. I believe I was very lucky being chosen by Spinnin’Records. There’s so much talent out there and I support that with my podcast.

How nice that you support talent and your answer proves how incredibly talented you are. Moving on to tracks, what’s actually your favorite track at the moment?

I really like ‘Meet Her At The Love Parade’ in the HI-LO edit, that track is very often in my DJ set. Next to that I still love my first track ‘Discharge’ and that’s also doing really well in my sets.

Alright. What do you do to relax in between studio-time and gigs?

I like watching YouTube videos in my spare-time but that’s also a way of getting inspiration for me. Basically I’m always fully occupied with something related to music, it’s my lifestyle.

Nice to hear you’re so passionate about music! Talking about music, on the 30th October the release of your collab with Bougenvilla ‘Butterfly Effect’ is planned. Could you say something about upcoming solo tracks or collabs?

Well I’ve been in the studio with Moguai, so that’s an upcoming collab. Of course I’m also working on solo tracks & some remixes. First one can be expected at the end of 2015.

Alright, that sounds definitely promising. Thanks very much for your time Curbi!

No problem, thanks for the interview!
