Dancetour Breda 2016

Dancetour Breda 2016

When Dancetour announced to return to Breda, the city where Hardwell, Dannic, Tiësto and many more Dutch DJ’s were discovered it instantly caught our interest. Considering the pretty good line-up we were sure we had to be there. So we headed to Breda for a day of sun & Dancetour vibes, check out our experience below!

DJ Clash winner: Joshua J

Considering that Dannic had kicked off his career some years ago by winning the DJ Clash contest of Dancetour we didn’t want to miss the set of this year’s DJ Clash Winner ‘Joshua J’. We weren’t able to catch his whole set but it was kind of trap-oriented and definitely how an opening set is supposed to be like.

Tom and Jame took over the decks and it started getting a bit busier, not very strange because the organization had said to expect about 30.000 people and asked the crowd to come early. The Dutch duo who got a recent release on Hardwell’s label called ‘What Goes Around’, included that one obviously in their set. Besides that, they played some fresh Don Diablo music and the popular Ingrosso – ‘Dark River’.

After grabbing some drinks & a snack we walked back to the stage to see Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano perform. With everybody already warmed up they turned up the heat with their ‘Sexy By Nature’ sounds. It’s a shame it was almost the same set as the set at Tomorrowland Brazil, but still really enjoyable.

It had been some time ago we were able to see Dirtcaps live & because they were going to do a special set in collaboration with Jupiler named ‘Release The Bull’ it was definitely one of the sets we had most looked forward to. The tension was successfully risen with 4 drummers, a countdown & later it turned out those guys were cool gymnasts too. Dirtcaps nailed it by playing a set that’s very characteristic for them, by which we mean f*ck genres, creating moshpits & making people lose their minds. A very impressive showcase of their skills!

Mister Kill The Buzz dropped some gems like ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, ‘Lights Camera Action’ and ‘Intoxicated’. We decided to get something to eat & drink again to stay hydrated. At this point it had already gotten extremely busy, the numbers were at least in the thousands already.

Dancetour Breda was where the career of Dannic got a massive boost some years ago. Then he managed to win the DJ Clash-contest. This meant that this day was a typical home-game for him & already when we started playing the crowd went nuts. That got topped massively when Hardwell revealed himself. The former no. 1 DJ according to the DJ MAG Top 100 didn’t want to miss Dancetour in his home-town. It will always be a crazy sight to see Dannic & Hardwell play B2B & a cool feeling to have witnessed it live.

Because Hardwell finished kind of hard with his & Sephyx’s remix of Don’t Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers, it was perfect that Blasterjaxx was up next. Blasterjaxx is usually a duo but due to circumstances with Idir just Thom played the heavy bigroom set. To our surprise Hardwell joined him to play their upcoming collab. We aren’t aware if there’s a name announced for it already but it might be ‘Going Crazy’ based on the lyrics. It’s a huge banger anyway!

Ummet Ozcan is, as we’ve seen multiple times before, an artist who’s more than capable of closing an event. As expected he included ‘The Hum’ ft. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, ‘Revolution’ and made everybody jump.

Conclusion

Since Dancetour Breda does not have an entrance fee & had a nice line-up it’s an ideal event for a big age-group. We feel that because the event is now 16+ instead of all ages it has improved the atmosphere compared to last year. So if you live in the neighbourhood & love EDM, this is where you want to be!
