22-year-old Swedish newcomer Marcus Mouya is back with an anthemic new single in Sweet Insomnia, building on his impressively prolific body of work to date that has amassed thousands of plays and follows.
Sweet Insomnia is a classy slice of tropical house, with warm piano chords, a graceful seductive, vocal and a gorgeous sax line that’s built for summer nights on the beach. Tight production gives the track a full feeling despite its succinct composition, and it’s yet another sign that Mouya is on his way to big things. Morrt add a little nu disco shine and sparkle on their equally infectious remix, injecting a little more energy into the percussive section.
“Sweet Insomnia was made last summer when I was at my family’s summer house in the Swedish archipelago” he explains. “Excited after watching the Tomorrowland live stream, I sat down with all my new motivation and made what could possibly be the best track that I have ever made. It’s a track that goes back to the basic elements of music. There are no 128 BPM fat beats and big synths, only some chilled-out piano and sax lines combined with a fantastic vocal in a 115 BPM blend.” Indeed, it’s an assuredly mature production for someone of his years, especially given the current vogue for those stadium-sized sounds.
Mouya comes from a musical family, and has been producing for only a few years. His cunning strategy of giving away much of his music via his SoundCloud page has ensured his name has received significant attention in a short space of time, and he’s set the foundations for a serious career with that dedication. One to watch out for without a doubt.
