Longtime friends Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki provide the highly anticipated follow up to their fan-favorite collaboration “Turbulence” with “It’s Time.” This fight-themed electro house banger sees Steve Aoki battling Laidback Luke for world supremacy, with legendary UFC announcer Bruce Buffer on board to provide his signature tagline. Dropping today, the 140 BPM floorboard wrecker is the ultimate party starter, or closer, hitting every mainstage and playlist this summer! We can’t wait to hear it LIVE since Steve Aoki premiered it at ULTRA Miami 2018.
“It’s Time” is released nine years after “Turbulence” hit the scene. “Turbulence” made such an impact, it became a fan cherished classic still played by Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki in their sets. When Luke closed the fully packed Worldwide stage at Ultra this year, the crowd went absolutely crazy hearing Lil Jon’s iconic line: ‘WE HIT TURBULENCE!’.
Laidback Luke: ‘It was really time for us to do something new. Steve reached out to me and I was so happy that he did! He told me that he didn’t want to go poppy on this one. So, I sent him a sketch and didn’t hear back from him. Finally, out of the blue, like five months later, he popped up on my FaceTime and said “Dude, I’ve been working on the track, it’s awesome! Do you want to have a listen?” I listened to it and it was great.’
Wrapping up the track, long-time UFC announcer Bruce Buffer provided his classic “It’s Time” rally call creating that real UFC feel. Battle of the DJs
The official “It’s Time” music video pits Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke against one another as mixed martial art fighters prepping for the fight of a lifetime. Filmed on location at the UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas, the video features intense scenes of both fighters preparing for the bout, with Aoki being trained by UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock and Laidback Luke showing off his (real life) Kung Fu skills.
But don’t worry. “It’s Time” cements the long-standing friendship between Aoki and Luke, a little UFC battle won’t change that one bit!
