Oliver Heldens’ HI-LO project has made a name for itself thanks to a cutting-edge, highly technical sound that fuses many bass-fuelled genres with mind-bending production. It’s only fitting, then, that he’s looking for the hottest visual design talent to help add the finishing touches to his alias’ forthcoming live show.
This week sees Heldens launch #DesignForHILO: an opportunity for designers to submit their work to the new HI-LO production, hosted via creative collaboration platform Talenthouse. He’s inviting the world’s most talented graphic and visual artists to create content to be used in his upcoming HI-LO shows, with some great rewards for the selected artist.
The selected designer will have the chance to bring their designs to life with the help of HI-LO’s VJ and live production team – with the finished work to be used in HI-LO’s debut live show (and possibly in further shows too). They will also receive exposure for their work across HI-LO’s social channels, whose audience is made up of over 80,000 fans and influential industry figures.
Participants are encouraged to draw from the resounding theme of ‘contrast’ in HI-LO’s music and current visual identity, and to submit a video of up to 10 minutes in length to illustrate the visuals they are proposing to develop for the live show. The submissions will be judged by Heldens himself and a guest judge.
“For my new HI-LO project, I’m gonna do a lot of shows, so I’m looking for visual content from you creative people”  he says. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Good luck, and have fun.”
The latest HI-LO release, his version of Da Hool’s classic anthem ‘Meet Her At The Love Parade’, has become a roaring success – with over 3.3m plays across YouTube and SoundCloud alone so far. With support for his intense, hyperactive creations from the likes of Diplo, Green Velvet, Flux Pavilion, Tiësto, Umek, Oliver Heldens, Kaskade and Knife Party, it’s clear that Heldens is going to succeed in whatever he lays his talented his to.
